I am going to NYC for 5 days in mid-September. I was hoping for something for daytime, for sightseeing/shopping, but I don't want to look like a tourist. Also an evening look would be nice, nothing formal or dressy, just something for a casual nice dinner (I am going with my 2 aunts so there shouldn't be any bar hopping!).

I recently got a wonderful ruffled top from the I Heart Ronson line at JCP, but I am at a loss as to how I should wear it. I would like to dress it down, but for some reason the sleeves just seem to big and fat, and the high collar too formal. When I try to wear a sweater over it the sleeves bulk up and the shirt always looks too big. Do you have any outfit ideas I could try? Or maybe I should just try shrinking it?

The Savvy Stylist: A Celebratory Cruise

In August I will be going on a Caribbean cruise. For the past 6 weeks, and continuing till the end of July, I have worn nothing but sweats and jeans and t-shirts, as I am studying for the Bar exam. This cruise is a celebration of three hard years and a summer of hard work during law school and bar prep. I would like options for a breezy, girly, summery dress look. I am rather short, so something that can fit a petite girl and that I can walk around and lounge in would be wonderful. I will be doing lots of fun excursions, so I need something comfortable too!
