The Savvy Stylist: First Date/Nature Walk

Janice writes:

I need your help! I've had a crush on this new guy in my office for weeks, and he finally got around to asking me out! The thing is, he's an avid hiker and he asked me to go on a hike with him. I am so not a nature girl, and I have absolutely nothing to wear! He knows that I'm a beginner, so he said he'd take me on more of a walk than an actual hike, but I am still clueless. Can you help me put together something that's comfy and cool but still cute? I want to look good for him!

Here's a cute, cool, and fully functional look with layers! I hope you like it, and I hope he does, too!

That looks really cute to me! I'd just make sure you have on comfortable walking shoes/sneakers (even if they're not super cute), and wear layers- in case you get hot!

This is a super cute outfit! However, the link to the shorts appears to be broken. I looked the Charlotte Russe website to see if the shorts were there anyway but could not find the exact pair. Can you please provide the link again or another pair of shorts that you think would go well? Thanks!

The look is cute, but I would almost always recommend long pants when going for a walk, especially if this guy is used to actual hiking. It can vary by where they live, but even on a "nature walk" you could be exposing yourself to things like ticks, thorns, or poison plants. Long pants or jeans will leave you much happier at the end of the hike!
