The Savvy Stylist: Grandma's Birthday Tea

Reader Request

At the end of July I'm heading home from the states to Australia to see my whole family for my grandmother's 80th birthday afternoon tea. It will be about 60 degrees there, and I have no idea what to wear! I'm 23 years old and have lost 33 lbs since I saw them last and I currently weigh about 149 lbs so I want to wear something fashionable and young that will show off my new body but is still classy and appropriate for an 80th. I have a straight body type,  prefer to cover my upper arms and like all colors except green and pink. I really like Lauren Conrad's style and don't like anything with too many ruffles. Please help!

This look is perfectly appropriate for an afternoon tea, but will still show off your svelte new figure. It costs $99.39.

this really isn't a young looking outfit for someone of 23. i think it would look more appropriate on someone in their thirties.

I think the pieces have potential, even for a 23 yo, but the color scheme is probably not appropriate for an afternoon tea. A dress in a similar shape out of a soft crepe in a solid, muted color might be a better bet... and I think a nude heel with be more "fashionable" looking, than a stodgy black pump...
